Short-term R&D
Customers often have a specific one-time need to build a small number of strains or run a simple set of experiments to inform a larger decision. Jasper takes on small to medium-sized strain engineering and process development projects for customers who have a specific R&D goal but either aren't equipped to do the work in-house or prefer a shorter-term engagement. We provide a number of advantages allowing you to start quickly, tap into a wealth of expertise and not be subject to upfront CAPEX and longer-term OPEX commitments. When and if a project is ready to graduate to a larger in-house effort, Jasper transfers all materials and IP.

Protein as a Service
Jasper helps customers obtain protein from the gram scale up to a metric ton of material. We cater to customers who have a protein of interest but don't necessarily have the know-how to produce it in larger than lab-scale quantities. We specialize in E. coli and Pichia pastoris based expression systems, providing the proof of concept molecular biology work and subsequent optimization and process development. We also help you navigate the maze of partners for product sampling and ultimately protein production. With Jasper, you retain the intellectual property developed along the way, and obtain protein for a fraction of the cost of traditional contract research.
Feasibility
Projects typically begin with a four month feasibility study and a technoeconomic model. A panel of strains is designed, built and tested for protein production and a project's feasibility is assessed against the required economics, all while minimizing upfront costs. We've got a lot of experience scaling proteins and can help quickly determine what's realistic for what cost.
Sampling
Need small quantities of protein to evaluate? We can produce grams of protein to assess biochemical characteristics and evaluate process metrics like purity and % recovery.
Optimization
Depending upon the required economics, we plan and carry out the necessary strain engineering, process development and down stream processing optimization to produce a protein at the required pricepoint.. $10/kg versus $10,000/kg endpoints require process efficiencies, and Jasper can help align vision with reality.
